Joellen Zorrilla: All I know is that my white skin gets a toasty, golden brown after a few days of tanning... End of line.
Alexandria Popik: I can't speak for every white person in the world, but my skin doesn't turn black in the sunlight. I tan, which means the UV rays in the sunlight make my skin produce more melanin which darkens my skin a little
Tana Dumoulin: A tan is actually a scar, it is the body's ability to protect the skin by producing melanin to reduce the skin's rays. Black skin does the same thing. People with black skin who stayed indoors got a lot lighter and today many black people use sun screen to keep their skin lighter. There is bleach creams that lighten the skin and even lasers as in the case of Micheal Jackson. He basically turned white by lazer treatments. Not only is it expensive but leaves you open to skin cancer. The natural white skin gets rash, allergy's and skin cancer at a higher rate than darker skin.At one time all humans ! had brown skin. Being closer to the sun in the areas closer to the equator those with darker skin survived to bred. Those farther from the sun the white skin absorbed more vitamin D and they survived to bred so the whiter the skin the better chance of survival in the cold north climate....Show more
